photo of fish painted onto glass

This is a sheet of glass from one of the cheap metal clip photo frames.
The design was drawn on the reverse with a fine marker pen, tracing an outline from a picture I had drawn.
Turn over and trace round the lines with a black relief gel and allow to dry for an hour. Then start to use glasspaints in chosen colours.
The Vitrail ceramic glass paints can be fired
in the oven to set permanently. Work the
paints quickly if you wish to blend colours. Allow colours to dry completely if you wish to add layers that dont smudge.
When you are finished and has dried out,
turn it over and use nail varnish remover on cotton wool (or other acetate) to remove the black ink lines from original stencil.
Fine line marker pens can also be used to
add accent details on the reverse after you have removed the black.
(C.D. labellingpens come in lots of colours
and are cheap!)
You can buy glue on mirror hooks from
DIY & craft stores.
These can be hung in a window to catch the light.
If you cover the brown chipboard backing
from the original clip frame with tinfoil, when you replace the painted glass it gives it a
jewel like reflection and makes the colours appear more vividly.
